Sinn Spezialuhren on the winners podium

07.11.2009    After an exciting race, rally world champion Walter Röhrl and his co-pilot Peter Göbel won the Costa Brava Rally for historical racecars. Driving a Reile Porsche 911 RSR, they won the penultimate run of the European classic car rally championship, held on November 6—7 in Lloret de Mar, Spain, crossing the finish line three minutes before the next competitor. Among the approximately 70 teams in the race was one sponsored by the chronograph manufacturer Sinn Spezialuhren zu Frankfurt am Main.

That’s because “the best rally drivers of all time,” Walter Röhrl and his co-pilot, the four-time German rally champion Peter Göbel, place their trust in the reliable 917 GR rally chronograph from Sinn Spezialuhren. Designed in the style of vintage cars, the watch features a backward-counting bezel that can be used to set and read off target times during rallies of all kinds — precise to the second. That made the 917 GR model indispensable for the Costa Brava rally. After all, a perfect team needs not just experienced drivers and fast cars, but also a reliable timepiece that is shock resistant and anti-magnetic, with a case of solid stainless steel. The watch is also free from fogging thanks to the AR dehydrating technology developed by Sinn Spezialuhren.

Experience, driving skill and professional equipment ultimately gave Walter Röhrl and Peter Göbel the upper hand in a difficult battle, and their third victory on the European championship circuit for historical rallies, after 1995 and 1997. Sinn Spezialuhren offers its heartfelt congratulations.
