The HUNTING WATCH 3006 is the first of our watches to feature this type of extraordinary complication. This refers to the moonlight display at 6 o’clock, whereby the hybrid ceramic moon symbol and the hour indices offer maximum luminosity and are therefore very easy to recognise even in the dark. Hunters not only need a clear, open view for a successful hunt; they also need the right light. Hunters refer to the right lighting conditions for stalking as good hunting light. The moonlight display on the HUNTING WATCH 3006 shows when the moon is shining bright enough to see and catch the game.

3006 HUNTING WATCH: German Design Award 2020

The HUNTING WATCH 3006 receives the “Excellent Product Design 2020“ award, which the highly esteemed panel of judges awards only to products that demonstrate a superb design. The German Design Award sets the highest of standards for determining its award winners: during the course of an exacting nomination procedure, only those products with design qualities that demonstrably set them apart from their competition will be selected by the expert panels from the German Design Council to participate in the competition. The internationally recognised panel of judges then chooses a winner from the final 500 products. This additional award corroborates the principle of developing and designing watches in strict conformity with the corresponding requirements.

Humans and Hunting
Throughout human history, hunting has been an essential element. Early humans originally ensured their survival solely as hunters and gatherers. The first evidence of targeted hunting of prey animals dates back to Homo erectus. The game they hunted provided high-quality food that was necessary to secure survival. Hunting therefore played a central role in human evolution—and it forms one of the most important foundations of human culture.

Today, Hunting and Nature Conservation Go Hand in Hand
The original purpose of hunting—obtaining wild animals for food—no longer applies. Today, hunting is primarily understood and practiced as wildlife management, which is an essential and legally required component of hunting law. Wildlife management means protecting and maintaining a diverse and healthy population of wild animals as well as safeguarding their natural habitats. Through numerous conservation measures, such as habitat protection and habitat connectivity, hunters create living spaces for endangered species in our intensively used landscapes and help preserve rare ecosystems. From an ecological perspective, hunting therefore benefits the balance of nature—hunting and nature conservation are closely interconnected.

The finely finished movement of the JAGDUHR 3006 is completed with the installation of the winding rotor. The delicate hands, the dial, and the moon phase disc are laid out ready for assembly.
A Robust and Precise Timekeeping Instrument
With its high-quality features, the JAGDUHR 3006 meets the demands of a robust and precise instrument for time measurement.
In particular, thanks to the SINN technologies employed, it is ideally suited for professional hunting use and therefore an indispensable part of hunting equipment. These technologies ensure that the watch is exceptionally robust and offers high mechanical stability. For example, the Ar-Dehumidifying Technology provides increased functional reliability and resistance to fogging. The satin-finished stainless-steel case has been surface-hardened using TEGIMENT Technology, making it especially scratch-resistant. In addition, the watch is water-resistant and pressure-resistant up to 20 bar and resistant to low pressure.

Reading the “Sauensonne” with the JAGDUHR 3006

Optimal lighting conditions occur at night from three days before to three days after the full moon (known among hunters as the “Sauensonne”), although the brightness of the moon also depends on factors such as the weather. With the moonlight display of the JAGDUHR 3006, the hunter can estimate this period precisely, as the time span of the Sauensonne can be read directly at a glance. A curved yellow arrow within the stylized crosshair indicates the direction of movement of the moon phase disc.

This functionality is supported by excellent legibility. The indices and the moon symbol are hybrid-ceramic luminous elements. This ensures that both the time and the moonlight display can be read perfectly even in the dark.
