Argentium®

A term for a silver alloy that is combined with the element germanium to create tarnish resistance. Silver is a precious metal that is immune to the progressive corrosive processes seen in steel alloys, commonly referred to as "rusting." However, silver reacts on its surface with sulfur, introduced through skin contact or from the atmosphere. This reaction causes visible darkening, which can be reversed using silver polishing cloths or suitable home remedies.

Argentium® silver, on the other hand, forms a protective layer of germanium oxide on its surface. This layer significantly slows the tarnishing process. Instead of the typical black discoloration, a golden-yellow tint may develop, which can be easily removed with an Argentium® cleaning cloth.
